CA AFFIRMS RTC 273 COURT DECISION THAT TVJ OWNS "EAT BULAGA!"

MANILA -- What a good news to start 2025!

The Court of Appeals (CA) has affirmed the lower court's decision to side with the comedic trio Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon regarding the "Eat Bulaga!" trademark.

According to the ruling of CA's ninth (9th) division, production firm Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) failed to prove that they owned and created the said title.

The CA also directed TAPE Inc. and co-respondent, GMA Network to give the archives of Eat Bulaga! as well as jingles and segments used to TVJ, and ordering the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) to junk all the applications of TAPE Inc. for the said trademark.
