MVP Taps Trusted Lieutenant: Chris Lizo Takes the Helm as MediaQuest CFO

In a strategic move to fortify its financial standing, tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan (MVP) has appointed one of his most reliable executives, Christopher Lizo, as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of MediaQuest Holdings Inc.

This leadership transition comes at a critical juncture for the media giant as it seeks to tighten financial controls and optimize operations across its diverse portfolio of TV, print, and digital assets.

A Proven Fixer for Financial Stability

Christopher Lizo is no stranger to high-stakes financial management within the MVP Group. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a degree from De La Salle University and executive training from the Wharton School, Lizo has spent over two decades stabilizing and growing the group’s various ventures.
Before this appointment, Lizo served as:

 * CFO of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp (MPTC): Where he oversaw finance, risk management, and budgeting.
 * VP for Treasury at Metro Pacific Investments Corp (MPIC): Where he famously helped complete a seven-year debt restructuring program in the early 2000s.

Tightening the Reins at MediaQuest

According to industry insiders, Lizo’s reassignment is a direct response to the need for stricter financial discipline.

MediaQuest, which owns major brands like TV5, Cignal TV, The Philippine Star, and BusinessWorld, is reportedly looking to rein in spending following a series of costly investment challenges that have impacted the company’s bottom line.
The move follows a broader leadership shake-up, including the exit of CEO Jane Basas, who has been placed on leave. Currently, Ricky Vargas has stepped in as the officer-in-charge to ensure a smooth transition.

The Road Ahead

With his 16-year tenure at MPIC and a reputation for implementing rigorous cash flow forecasting and reporting, Lizo is expected to bring "best practices" to the media group. His primary mission? To stabilize the ship and ensure that MediaQuest’s massive reach in the Philippine media landscape translates into long-term financial sustainability.

As the industry moves further into the digital age, Lizo’s experience in risk management will be vital in navigating the volatile advertising and subscription markets.
