Television and Production Exponents, Inc. (TAPE Inc.), a once long-standing production company, has reportedly ceased its operations as of November 24, 2025. In a major corporate restructuring, the company is said to have handed over its remaining assets and operations to its sister company, APT Entertainment, Inc.
This move marks the final chapter for TAPE Inc., a company that became a household name over four decades but faced a series of legal and operational hurdles in recent years.
The Great Migration to APT Entertainment
According to industry reports, the dissolution of TAPE Inc. was followed by a strategic absorption of its remaining resources into APT Entertainment. Both companies share a deep history, with Antonio P. Tuviera serving as a central figure in both.
While TAPE Inc. struggled with the fallout from the "Eat Bulaga!" trademark dispute and the subsequent cancellation of its replacement show, Tahanang Pinakamasaya, APT Entertainment has remained a robust player in film and television production. By folding TAPE’s assets into APT, the management appears to be consolidating its power to focus on new ventures under a more stable corporate identity.
What Happens to the Legacy Content?
One of the most significant aspects of this transition involves the intellectual property (IP) of the Philippines' longest-running noontime show, Eat Bulaga!
The Pre-2023 Library: Reports indicate that the Eat Bulaga! libraries dating before May 31, 2023, have been acquired by TVJ Productions, the firm established by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon in partnership with MediaQuest. Future Operations: APT Entertainment is expected to manage the remaining production equipment, talent contracts, and ongoing projects that were previously under the TAPE umbrella.
A Challenging Road to Dissolution
The reported closure comes on the heels of several high-profile legal battles. In mid-2025, GMA Network filed an estafa complaint against TAPE Inc. executives regarding approximately ₱38 million in unremitted advertising revenues. Although some reports suggested the complaint was later junked or settled, the financial strain and public relations damage from the "TVJ vs. TAPE" saga proved difficult to overcome.
The Future of Variety Television
With TAPE Inc. officially out of the picture, the "noontime war" has fundamentally changed. TVJ Productions now holds the reins of the Eat Bulaga! brand on TV5, while GMA Network has successfully integrated ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime into its main programming slot.
The absorption into APT Entertainment signifies a "fresh start" for the Tuviera-led management, pivoting away from the controversies of the past and toward a future of digital content, film, and specialized TV production.
