TV5 Slips to 9.7% Audience Share in First Half of 2026 Following ABS-CBN Partnership Split, GMA still dominates at #1 big time

The Philippine television landscape has undergone a major shift as media giant GMA Network further cemented its dominance, widening its viewership lead in the first half of 2026.
According to the latest figures from the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) covering January 1 to June 30, 2026, the Gozon-led broadcaster secured an overwhelming 45.8% audience share. The network's stronghold is further highlighted by the fact that 27 out of the 30 most-watched television programs during this six-month period were produced by the Kapuso Network.
TV5 Slides, GTV Closes In
While TV5 managed to retain the second spot overall, it experienced a noticeable drop in viewership. Its audience share declined sharply to 9.7%, down from 14.5% in 2025. Industry analysts point to the termination of TV5's partnership agreement with ABS-CBN on the first day of 2026 as a key driver behind the Kapatid Network's struggle to maintain its former audience levels.
Hot on TV5's heels is GMA Network's subsidiary channel, GTV, which closely trailed in third place with a 9.6% audience share for the first half of 2026.
AMBS ALLTV2 Surges, A2Z Holds Steady
In a reverse of fortune, Advanced Media Broadcasting System’s (AMBS) ALLTV2 experienced a massive ratings boost, climbing to a 6.7% audience share. This surge follows a strategic content partnership with ABS-CBN, which brought the Kapamilya Network's entire lineup to the Villar-owned station after a previous struggle to draw viewers.
Meanwhile, A2Z—the ABS-CBN-affiliated broadcast channel owned by Zoe Broadcasting Network—generated a stable 5.4% audience share.
Rounding out the Top 10 most-watched television channels are GMA’s digital offerings (I Heart Movies and Heart of Asia), ABS-CBN’s 24/7 pay-TV stations (Kapamilya Channel and CineMo), and TV5’s sister network (RPTV).
First Half 2026 TV Channel Rankings & Audience Shares
| Rank | Channel / Network | Audience Share | Key Highlights / Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | GMA Network | 45.8% | Dominant ratings leader; produced 27 of the top 30 shows. |
| 2 | TV5 | 9.7% | Dropped from 14.5% in 2025 due to the split with ABS-CBN. |
| 3 | GTV | 9.6% | GMA's subsidiary channel, closely trailing TV5. |
| 4 | ALLTV2 (AMBS) | 6.7% | Saw a major ratings surge following its content partnership with ABS-CBN. |
| 5 | A2Z | 5.4% | Zoe Broadcasting Network channel affiliated with ABS-CBN. |
| 6–10 | I Heart Movies, Heart of Asia, Kapamilya Channel, CineMo, RPTV | Not Specified | Rounded out the Top 10 via digital, pay-TV, and sister networks. |
Is the Lopez Family Selling Their Empire for ₱45 Billion (including ABS-CBN)?
It looks like the long-standing feud and family drama within the Lopez family are finally coming to a close or reaching a major turning point. According to reports, family members allied with former ABS-CBN boss Gabby Lopez III are preparing to sell their massive share in the family's main holding company, Lopez Inc.
A Super Billionaire is Making a Move
Rumors from the inside reveal that one of the richest and most powerful billionaires in the Philippines is close to finalizing a deal to buy a 70.83% share in Lopez Inc. The price tag? An astounding ₱45 billion!
Here are the groups selling their shares:
- Mantes Holdings Corp. (29.17%): Includes the camp of Manuel Lopez Jr., Miguel Lopez, Martin Lopez, and Maita Lopez-Lichauco.
- Crème Investment Corp. (25.68%): Includes Gabby Lopez, Maria Rosario Lopez, Rafael Lopez, and other family members.
- Presta Holdings Co. Inc. (15.98%): Headed by Lauro Pangilinan III, Maria Eugenia Brown, and the Psinakis family.
Who is Left Out?
The only group sitting out of the sale is Croslo Holdings Corp., which holds the remaining 29.17%. They represent the branch of the late Oscar Lopez Jr., which includes Federico "Piki" Lopez along with their siblings and cousins.
What Happens If This Pushes Through?
Lopez Inc. sits right at the very top of the entire Lopez family business empire. This means that if this mystery billionaire successfully buys it, they will also gain control over:
- ABS-CBN (the popular media network)
- First Gen and First Philippine Holdings (power and energy companies)
- Rockwell Land (well-known real estate and malls)
Simply put, this is a massive shift in Philippine business history if this agreement pushes through!
