A New Chapter for PTV: State Network Eyes Partnerships with Industry Giants TV5, GMA and ABS-CBN

The landscape of Philippine broadcasting is set for an exciting shift. Newly appointed People’s Television Network (PTV) General Manager, Lino Cayetano, has officially announced that the state-run network is exploring strategic partnerships with the country's three largest media organizations: ABS-CBN, GMA Network, and MediaQuest’s TV5.

This move, aimed at revitalizing PTV and expanding its reach, has received the green light from the PTV Board of Directors.

A Vision for Growth and Relevance

In a statement, GM Cayetano emphasized that the decision to collaborate with these industry stalwarts is rooted in a desire to serve Filipinos more effectively. "To serve Filipinos better and remain engaged and relevant in their lives, we need multiple stakeholders at the table," Cayetano stated.

The partnership aims to leverage the expertise, reach, and content-production capabilities of these major networks to:

Enhance PTV’s programming: Combining resources to create more engaging and impactful content.
Expand reach: Utilizing both traditional and digital media platforms to connect with a wider audience.

Fulfill the public mandate:

Strengthening PTV’s role as a network that serves every Filipino, distinguishing it from purely commercial stations.

Strengthening the Future of Public Media

The PTV Board—led by Chairperson Victoria C. Recio, Vice Chairperson Prof. Antonio Contreras, and Board Member Atty. Joji Alonso—has formally adopted a resolution authorizing the new General Manager to pursue these partnerships.
Expressing his gratitude, GM Cayetano noted that the three networks are "held in high esteem and trust by the Filipino people," and their involvement is seen as a crucial step toward securing a vibrant future for the network.
