UPDATE: Mr. M’s return to VIBE and the show's future

The landscape at TV5 has seen significant shifts following recent internal developments, bringing clarity to the status of legendary director Johnny "Mr. M" Manahan and the future of the variety program Vibe.

Network representatives have officially clarified that Mr. M was never removed from the network itself; rather, the confusion centered on a report regarding his directing role on Vibe. The misunderstanding arose from an internal communication—delivered via text message—which caught Mr. M by surprise, as there had been no prior face-to-face meeting or formal negotiation regarding his contract, which reportedly ended on May 31.

This lack of professional courtesy caused a stir, fueled by concerns over "cost-cutting" and the perceived high talent fee associated with his role.

Underlying this friction were internal challenges regarding the integration of talents from Star Worx, the network’s newly launched talent management arm led by Mr. M. Since the introduction of the "Star Worx Block 1" artists in early May 2026, management had required their inclusion on Vibe to provide the necessary exposure for these new stars. However, this mandate reportedly created tension with the show’s existing production team, as some felt the new talents were overshadowing established favorites.

These issues were further exacerbated by reports that Vibe had been operating with a level of autonomy that led to misalignment with the broader strategic goals of TV5 and its parent company, MediaQuest.

In response, top network executives held a meeting to address these operational concerns and restore stability. It has been confirmed that management has officially taken direct control of Vibe to ensure the program aligns with the network’s vision. Consequently, Mr. M has officially returned as the program’s director. As part of this restructuring, the network is overhauling the show to improve ratings and financial performance, which includes changing some of the program’s executive leadership and working toward settling outstanding debts, such as those owed to food suppliers.

Looking forward, TV5 plans to elevate Vibe with a fresh format reminiscent of classic Sunday variety experiences, leveraging Mr. M’s extensive expertise. The network remains steadfast in its mission to champion Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and solidify Vibe as a premier platform for cultivating the next generation of Filipino talent.

His appointment is a strategic move for the program, which has solidified its status as a home for music lovers and champions of Original Pilipino Music (OPM). OPM/PPOP Fans can expect Cruzin to leverage his deep industry background to enhance the viewer experience, particularly regarding the integration of new talent and the show’s dynamic segments like "Main Vibe," "Uprising," and the "OG Experience."

 * Diverse Production Roles: His versatility is evident in his past roles as a task producer for Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited (2011) and as an associate producer for The Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition (2011).

 * Directorial Portfolio: Building on his production success, Cruzin transitioned into directorial roles, most notably with Net25's Road to Starkada (2023).

MVP Pledges Support for the New Generation of OPM Through 'Vibe' and TV5 MediaQuest

Industry titan Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) is ensuring that the next generation of Filipino talent has the platform they deserve.

In a recent statement, the Chairman of TV5 Network Inc. and MediaQuest Holdings emphasized his commitment to the music industry through Vibe, a venue designed to bridge the gap between emerging artists and their fans.

A New Era for OPM

According to Pangilinan, the goal of Vibe is simple: to create a dedicated space where "new Filipino sounds" can be discovered. In an era where digital streaming dominates, having a powerhouse like MediaQuest provide a platform for young talents to showcase their "voice and moves" is a game-changer for the local music scene.

"The goal of Vibe is simple—to give our artists and their fans a venue where they can listen and discover the new Filipino sounds, where young talents can show their voice and moves and shape the new OPM." — Manny V. Pangilinan

Breaking Boundaries with Awit Awards

Beyond just providing a stage, Pangilinan highlighted a strategic collaboration with the Awit Awards.

This partnership aims to democratize music appreciation in the Philippines, ensuring that OPM reaches every Filipino regardless of:

 * Economic Status
 * Gender and Age
 * Geography and Language

By leveraging the reach of TV5 and the prestige of the Awit Awards, the initiative promises to connect the music industry to a wider, more diverse audience, fostering a more inclusive environment for both creators and listeners.

Shaping the Future of Filipino Talent

With the backing of TV5 MediaQuest, the "new OPM" is set to become more than just a trend—it's becoming a movement. This commitment from MVP signals a bright future for Filipino music, where innovation is celebrated and barriers to entry are systematically dismantled.

Ratings Report: GMA's 'Sang'gre' Rules Primetime while 'Eat Bulaga' and 'VIBE' Shake Up TV5 Lineup

The Philippine television landscape remains a battlefield of titans as the February 2026 mid-month ratings reveal a dominant streak for GMA Network and a steady climb for TV5’s key programs. From the mythical world of Encantadia to the high-energy variety stages of the afternoon, the numbers tell a story of loyal fanbases and growing viewership.

GMA Primetime: 'Sang'gre' Casts a Powerful Spell

GMA’s Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre continues to prove why it is the "crown jewel" of the Kapuso network. Throughout the week, the fantasy-drama consistently secured the #2 spot nationwide, peaking at a massive 10.7% AMR on Wednesday, February 18. Even with stiff competition from FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, the Diwatas maintained a comfortable lead, never dropping below the 9.4% mark.

Afternoon Dominance: 'TiktoClock' and the Variety Wars

In the late morning/pre-lunch slot, TiktoClock remains a vital asset for GMA. The variety show maintained a steady performance, hovering between 2.6% and 3.0% AMR. Its highest peak this week occurred on Tuesday, Feb 17, proving that its mix of comedy and time-pressured games is the preferred "pampagana" for Filipino households.

The TV5 Surge: 'Eat Bulaga' and the Rise of 'VIBE'

Over at the Kapatid Network, Eat Bulaga! (simulcast on RPTV) remains the undisputed heavyweight for TV5. The long-running noontime show consistently pulled numbers between 2.7% and 3.2%, often outperforming several GMA afternoon dramas. Its peak of 3.2% on Tuesday shows that the "Legit Dabarkads" still hold a significant grip on the noontime habit.

Meanwhile, Sunday, February 15, saw the entry of VIBE on TV5. While entering a competitive weekend landscape dominated by KMJS (Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho), VIBE managed to land in the Top 30 with a 0.8% rating. For a fresh program, this serves as a foundation to build on as it competes for a slice of the Sunday variety audience.

Key Takeaways

 * 24 Oras remains the #1 program in the country, hitting a high of 12.9% on Monday.

 * Stars on the Floor (Pilot) made a thunderous debut on Sunday (Feb 15) with 7.8%, signaling a new hit for GMA.

 * Frontline Pilipinas remains the primary news choice for TV5 viewers, steady at 1.8% to 1.9%.

As the month progresses, will Sang'gre finally overtake 24 Oras for the top spot? And can VIBE find its rhythm to climb the Sunday charts? Stay tuned for our next ratings wrap-up!
