Ricky Vargas Officially Appointed as President and CEO of Mediaquest Holdings

Mediaquest Holdings Inc. has officially named Ricky Vargas as its new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), solidifying his leadership over the MVP Group’s extensive media arm.

Vargas, a long-term associate of tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan, moves into the permanent CEO role after serving as the company’s officer-in-charge following the departure of Jane Basas.

Overseeing a Diverse Media Portfolio
In his new capacity, Vargas is tasked with managing a massive and diverse portfolio of media assets.

His leadership will extend across:
 * Free-to-air Broadcasting: TV5
 * Pay TV and Satellite: Cignal TV
 * News Channels: One PH
 * Radio: 92.3 True FM
 * Print Media: The Philippine Star, BusinessWorld, Pilipino Star Ngayon, and The Freeman

Strategic Vision and Challenges

With a strong background in corporate transformation from his time at PLDT, Vargas is expected to streamline operations across Mediaquest's legacy print and broadcast platforms.

A primary focus for his tenure will be steering TV5 toward profitability.

This involves building a more efficient and cost-effective "content engine" to navigate a cautious outlook for the media industry.

A Pillar in Philippine Sports

Beyond the boardroom, Ricky Vargas is a highly respected figure in sports administration. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and has held significant leadership roles in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
