PLDT and Smart Offer Free Calls for OFWs Amid Middle East Conflict

The safety and well-being of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) remain a top priority as tensions rise in the Middle East. In a swift response to the growing conflict, Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) has announced that PLDT and Smart Communications are providing free calling services to help Filipinos stay connected with their families.

This initiative aims to ease the burden on our modern-day heroes and their loved ones during this uncertain time, ensuring that communication remains open and accessible.

Key Connectivity Initiatives for Filipinos

According to the official announcement from MVP, several channels have been opened to facilitate free communication between the Philippines and affected countries:

 * Free Calls to the PH: Filipinos currently in Iran, Israel, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia can make free calls to the Philippines using the TinBo app via a Smart Virtual Number.

 * Local Subscribers: PLDT, Smart, and TNT subscribers within the Philippines can also call their loved ones in the aforementioned countries at no cost.

 * Emergency Hotlines: A dedicated Smart Crisis Hotline has been established. Filipinos can call +63288457799 (open 24/7) to be connected with home.

 * Government Support: The DMW-OWWA 1348 hotline is also accessible for free through the TinBo app.

Validity and Extensions

These free services are currently scheduled to be available until March 7, 2026. However, the PLDT group has stated they will monitor the situation closely to determine if an extension is necessary based on the needs of our countrymen.
