Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto Set to Meet in Cubao: Is the Noontime War Finally Over?

The Philippine entertainment scene is buzzing with excitement after a surprising and heartwarming exchange between two of the country's biggest comedy icons. Vice Ganda of ABS-CBN's "It's Showtime" and Vic Sotto of TV5's "Eat Bulaga" recently exchanged on-air greetings, sparking rumors of a potential movie collaboration and the end of the long-standing "noontime war."

The Unexpected On-Air Greetings
The unexpected interaction began when Vice Ganda paused during an episode of "It's Showtime" to send a heartfelt message to the veteran television host. "Hi, Bossing Vic! Hi, Bossing! I love you!" Vice Ganda exclaimed, immediately catching the attention of viewers and netizens alike.

Not to be outdone, Vic Sotto returned the greeting during an episode of "Eat Bulaga." "What's up, Vice! Mag-uusap tayo, huh?" Sotto responded, ending his message with his trademark sign-off, "Mwa mwa tsup tsup".

A Meeting in Cubao

The exchange didn't stop there. Vice Ganda later revealed on "It's Showtime" that Sotto had reached out for a serious conversation. "Binati ko si Bossing kahapon. Binati niya rin ako sa 'Eat Bulaga.' Sabi niya sa akin mag-uusap daw kami nang masinsinan," Vice Ganda shared.

Expressing his eagerness to meet, Vice Ganda extended an invitation: "Pero Bossing gusto rin talaga kitang makita at makausap nang personal, mayakap, mabati at mahagkan. Talagang gusto kong magkaroon tayo ng malalim na usapan. Kaya Bossing, kung may oras ka, bukas magkita tayo nang 4 p.m. sa Cubao".

Sotto quickly accepted the invitation during the Saturday episode of "Eat Bulaga," quipping, "3:59 p.m. nando'n na ako. See you tomorrow".

Rumors of a Movie Collaboration
The back-to-back greetings and the scheduled meeting have fueled speculation that the two comedy giants are teaming up for a movie project, widely rumored to be an official entry for the 2026 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

The rumors gained traction after singer Sofi Fermazi inadvertently posted a promotional graphic on social media announcing her as a "Special Guest Artist" at a "Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto New Movie Announcement" scheduled for July 5. Although the post was quickly deleted, screenshots had already circulated online, preempting the official announcement.

Joey de Leon Chimes In

Adding to the excitement, "Eat Bulaga" co-host Joey de Leon playfully chimed in on the situation. During the same episode where Sotto accepted Vice Ganda's invitation, de Leon jokingly asked his co-host Ryzza Mae Dizon, "Kailan kayo mag-uusap ni Kim Chiu?".

This comment alluded to a recent joke made by Kim Chiu on "It's Showtime," where she reacted to a character dressed as Lotus Feet by saying, "Ay! Bakit si Ryzza Mae?". Dizon handled de Leon's joke with grace, laughing it off and giving a polite shoutout to Chiu, saying, "Hello po! Shoutout".

The End of the Noontime War?

The interactions between the hosts of the rival noontime shows have led many to wonder if the long-standing "noontime war" is finally coming to an end. Vice Ganda himself teased the possibility, remarking, "Bukas maaariing wakasan namin ang noontime war," which drew cheers from his fellow hosts.

As fans eagerly await the outcome of the meeting in Cubao and the official announcement of the rumored movie collaboration, one thing is certain: the Philippine entertainment industry is in for a treat.
